After two dazzling successes in some fascinating and remote locations, Detour Discotheque is back for its third installment next year – and this time, they’re going big.
It debuted in Iceland in 2022 and made a comeback in Scotland in 2023, and we can offer first-hand confirmation that these parties are well worth the trek. For 2024, organisers are literally taking this party to new heights.
Due to grace the peaks of Switzerland in May next year, Detour Discotheque will be taking its homage to Studio 54 and Paradise Garage to the stunning Alpine village of Lauterbrunnen for three days of boogieing.
Just 300 party-goers will be able to attend what has been dubbed ‘the highest party in Europe’. The terrace at Birg station will host the Friday day party. Piz Gloria, a revolving restaurant perched at the top of Schiltorn mountain, is the main venue for the Saturday, and on Sunday, the traditional Trinkhalle (drinking hall) will be taken over.
In between each party, guests will stay in the valley’s Alpine villages – they’ll need some rest from all the partying, after all. But who will they be dancing to?
Well, the first acts that have been announced include DJ Paulette, a Manchester music veteran, Norsicaa who runs Soundway Records label, and Talking Drums, a rising disco re-edit collective.
‘Detour is all about finding spectacular locations for intimate parties, and this is as stunning as it gets,’ says founder Jonny Ensall. ‘The cable car ride alone is heart stopping. A nightclub at 3,000 metres is definitely our most ambitious project yet.’
Detour Discotheque 2024 will take place May 10-12. Tickets go on general sale on Sunday December 10 and start from £199. Subscribe to access Tuesday December 5’s presale, and follow their Instagram for updates.
