If you’re a New South Waleser born and bred, you are probably already well versed in how good our state actually is. But for those of us in Sydney who don’t always get the chance to taste, smell and get stuck into the many facets of the state we call home, Pyrmont Festival is ready to celebrate everything that makes NSW such a great place to live. Quality wines, artisan chefs, farm-fresh produce, delicious treats and live music from all four corners of the state are the earthly delights that await you over the two-day festival that’s set to hit Pirrama Park from May 18 to May 19. Wine’s from Orange's See Saw Wines, Gilbert, Canobolas Wines, Rowlee Wines, Highland Heritage, Swinging Bridge and Ross Hill Wines, the Hunter Valley's Elbourne Wines, Tulloch Wines, Hungerford Hill, Glandore Wines, Horner Wines, Weerona Wines, Petersons Wines, Savannah Estate, Ben Ean Winery, Two River Wines, and Rylstone’s De Beaurepaire Wines will be on offer. Plus, enjoy drops from the first ever Canberra District winery McKellar Ridge Wines. If Australian Fashion Week has inspired you to get creative this weekend, you’re in the right place. The Museum of Contemporary Art’s epic monthly party happens to fall this Friday – with this month’s event a particularly special one, with futuristic performances, sensory art activations, rooftop drinks and a whole heap of dancing. You can keep the artistic energy going with a visit to The Other Art Fair, The Biennale of Sydney or any of our city’s excellent galleries – or run with the party theme and head to one of the best bars in the city. Want a special getaway this weekend? We’d suggest heading up to Byron – a magical food and culture festival is popping up for ten days of al fresco dinners and long table lunches. If you can’t make it all the way north, a more small-scale (but similarly special) celebration of local makers is taking over Pyrmont for two days only, and there's a huge wine party going down at the Ace. Scroll on for our full list of everything you can get up to in Sydney this weekend.
